How I’m Going to Better Enjoy 2018

With the new year comes new year’s resolution. We are always looking to make major changes, like going to the gym, eating better, getting a new job, and so on. But are these changes really going to make us happy? We strive to change our lives, but what we need is to change our perspective. This year, I’ve decided to look inward, and make small adjustments that will make me happier, and to learn to love what I already have and not to chase what I don’t. So here are my new year’s resolutions.

Finish What I Started

This year I’m striving to read all those books that I’ve left half finished. I want to wear the clothes that I already have instead of buying new ones. I want to make dinner with the random things that are in my fridge. I want to call the people I keep meaning to catch up with. I want to finish a passion project that I’ve been thinking about for years. This year I will finish what I’ve already started.

Appreciate Me

Instead of being critical of myself, I want to start giving myself some credit for what I have. I’m striving to appreciate my body for the amazing things it can do, like getting me up in the morning, watching my favorite show, or hugging my family. Instead of being critical of myself for things that I cannot do, I want to start appreciating the things that I can do.

Cease Judgement

In 2018, I’m doing a judgement detox. (Thank you Gabrielle Bernstein, Judgement Detox ) I want to stop judging people, and myself, but rather appreciate people for what they bring to the table. Instead of looking at things as a weakness, I want to look at how it can be a strength. It’s not up to me to judge or fix people, but rather appreciate them for who they are.

Pace Myself

One thing I want to stop doing is rushing through life. I’m always looking ahead at what I need to do, and what needs to get done, rather than being in the moment. In 2018, let’s take it slow. Let’s make relaxation and personal health a priority. I’m striving to be more mindful and present in my life. There should be intention behind everything that we do. Remember, it’s not about quantity it’s about quality.

Let’s all make a pact to stop complaining about what isn’t working and enjoy what is great.

2018 is the year of appreciation and positivity - join me and let’s stop to smell the roses.
